The importance of natural light in your real estate photos

Natural light is a key element for real estate photography. It allows you to highlight the rooms and details of the property at their best !

Think natural light rather than artificial

First of all, you should know that natural light is characterized by white light, while artificial light is associated with a light source which often comes from inside the room (lamps, spotlights, screens, etc.).

We get a better result with natural light rather than artificial light. For example, to avoid capturing the halos of lamps which can show yellow parts in the result of your photos, which goes against the principle of natural light.

Maximize natural light during your shoot

When you make your photoshoot, there are several tips to take into account to take the best of natural light :

• Always remember to open the curtains (without necessarily opening the windows) in order to bring in as much natural light as possible.

• It is also important to notice that the more natural light there is in the room you are shooting, the more the quality of your photos will be optimized. Indeed, our HDR processing solution enhances natural light and will thus produce a better final result.

• HDR photo processing also allows you to remove the effects of backlighting in photos.

• We advise you to stand in a corner of the room, facing a window during your shoot. You will then be able to optimize the capture of light, and the final result of your photos.

On the left, you can notice the halos of light caused by the lamps but also the absence of opening of the blinds which gives the effect of a dark room.On the right, here is the result of a photo with natural light that comes in the room without having the lights turned on.

By using the Exposio HDR solution, you can now trust natural light and no longer need artificial light. We optimize the technical settings for you with the Exposio application and the Exposio Darkroom software.

Just keep these tips in mind when you are on the spot !
